missions that matter
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
Missions that Matter
Missions that Matter is our annual funds drive for mission work around the world. Christian Fellowship Ministries International is exactly what our name implies. We are a worldwide organization providing Christians with Godly Fellowship. This is no little task, and we are constantly looking for opportunities to better support our missions. God commands us to first love him, and then love our neighbor, and nothing we do for him can be taken lightly. We are called to show God’s love to his children by meeting their physical and spiritual needs. That is truly a mission that matters.
Currently there are needs that we want to meet, and through Missions that Matter, that can become a reality. This annual fund drive goes to support military missions and foreign outreaches including Haiti and SriLanka.
Military Missions
Military Ministry is a cornerstone of CFCMI. Our goal is to have a presence in every port that the US Navy goes to providing fellowship, encouragement, and godly support for those that find themselves away from their homes and families.
Money raised through Missions that Matter will make it possible to send resources such as Bible Studies, CD’s and sermons all over the world. It will also allow for leaders to travel to military fellowships to offer guidance and support to believers. With economic stresses, we have had to cut down our travel budget drastically making it hard to keep connected with those serving in the military around the world. Missions that Matter will give us the opportunity to fix this, and resume the travel schedule of going to each of our fellowships world wide twice each year.
During 2009, we hope to unveil a Military Communication Center in which families can connect with their loved ones overseas via video-on-demand, video-conferencing, and texting networks.
This year we plan to establish a strong program to train fellowship leaders who can be sent wherever there is a need. Currently, we have groups spanning the globe awaiting leaders from the headquarters such as our fellowship in Yakuska Japan. The plan is to send two full time civilian fellowship leaders to each of our current fellowships and to staff new fellowships as the needs arise. Funding from Missions that matter will make this plan a reality.
Haiti
Though Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, many there are receiving the true riches of Christ through Chrisitan Fellowship. We are so thankful to be able to be bringing the hope of Jesus to our brothers and sisters in this island nation. Through our child sponsorship program, Hope for Haiti, children are offered the opportunity to go to school (a luxury only for those who can afford private schools in Haiti), but there are still many more needs to be met. Missions that Matter will allow us to continue to make progress on a Medical Clinic in the rural areas of the country where medical care is unavailable.
CFCMI is also receiving outside support to install water-harvesting systems to communities throughout Haiti with inadequate or impure water supplies. With only 14% of the population using adequate sanitation methods in rural areas, clean water and medical attention is essential. This project has only recently begun, but due to the interests and donations of individuals toward this need, this project is already promising to be a terrific means to fulfill a dire need in Haiti for drinkable water, but our work on this front is by no means finished.
SriLanka
Being a Christian in the Buddhist nation of SriLanka presents a set of challenges all its own. Scattered across the nation, our brothers and sisters are forced to worship Christ in secret while still trying to rebuild from the Tsunami that hit in 2004.
Right now, Pastor Sunil Heuege rides through the country on a motorcycle picking people up for worship and fellowship. The challenges of this mode of transportation are not only in the amount of people who can come along, but in the disrepair of the roads, making it difficult to travel safely in any vehicle let alone one without four wheels. Donations made to Missions that Matter will allow us to get a vehicle for the churches in SriLanka.
